Investigation of a roadway departure accident on rv. 159 in Lørenskog
On Friday 14 May 2021, a tip-truck and trailer in the direction of Oslo drove into the middle divider on the motorway and collided with a bridge pillar. Both the tip-truck and the trailer was lying on its side in the opposite driving lane. The driver of the vehicle died.
The investigation so far shows that the tip-truck and trailer lost control without other vehicles being involved and that the accident happened abruptly and over a short distance.
The vehicle changed direction and drove into the crash barrier. Furthermore, the vehicle partially crossed over to the opposite driving lane on the motorway and overturned. In this position, the cab of the tip-truck finally collided with a bridge pillar between the driving directions. The vehicle was loaded with crushed stone/gravel that remained over large parts of the motorway.
The course of events is well documented, and the investigation will look more closely at what triggered the course of events and any underlying conditions that have affected this.
