Investigation of a serious trafficincident on county road 715, at Storsteinan, Trondheim

At 6 August 2018 a truck loaded with trash suddenly lost the trailer at Fv. 715 at Storsteinan. The trailer was separated from the truck, rolled over and blocked the roadway. No one was injured in the incident and there was only material damage to the trailer and side rails of the road.

The trailer was registered for the fist time on 2 February 2018, and was loaded with approx. 2.7 tons of garbage when it rolled. The trailer became unstearable, the air pressure hoses broke, the brakes were activated and the trailer rolled in the middle of the roadway.

The investigation has focus on documenting the accident's course of events. Further it is focus on production and conversion of drawbar construction, and the control regime for initial registration of trailers and its components.

The trailer was sertified by the Road Authorities, and AIBN has adressed an iterim safety recommendation on this issue (see link below).
