Investigation of air accident at Stavnes in Kragerø municipality, Telemark county, Norway

Description

On Saturday, 23 March 2019, two people were flying in a private Robinson 44 helicopter from Langøy to Skien. Over Stavnes they lost rotor speed and altitude. The helicopter hit treetops in a dense spruce forest and then fell onto the ground. Both of the two on board were injured and the helicopter was totally wrecked.

The day after, the helicopter was lifted from the accident site using a helicopter and later transported to the Accident Investigation Board's premises at Lillestrøm. Based on information obtained during conversations with the commander, the helicopter will be examined for any technical failures.
