Description

Shortly after becoming airborne, the canopy opened and separated from the sailplane. The pilot in command released the tow-line and initiated a turn towards the airfield. The sailplane was landed on a nearby golf course. During the landing roll, the right wing struck several trees and the sailplane was substantially damaged. The pilot in command was uninjured.
