Description

Air Accident in Norway with Agusta A109E, LN-OLH. The helicopter had hoisted a maritime pilot from the ship Clipper Sky in the fjord Hervikfjorden and was on its way to the ship Berge Danuta positioned south-west of Skudeneshavn. The helicopter deviated from the planned course and flew in over the island Austre Bokn. The crew received a radio altimeter warning indicating that they were low over the terrain. The pilot-in-command made a steep climb in darkness without external visual references and lost control of the helicopter. The first officer perceived that they was in an emergency and commenced an autorotation. The helicopter hit the island and rolled over to its left side. All four on board was injured and the helicopter was substantially damaged.
