Investigation on air accident at the E18 road in Eidanger, Vestfold and Telemark County, Norway
June 17, 2021 at 2254 hours LN-OGT, a Robinson R44 helicopter flying from Kvinesdal to Kjeller, crashed. The helicopter hit a high voltage line that crossed the road at approx. 15 meters high before it fell down on the road shoulder. The commander, who was the only person on board, was fataly injured. The helicopter was substantially damaged.
It was getting dark and there was heavy rain with thunderstorms in the area. Several witnesses had shortly before the accident observed the helicopter flying at low altitude. A video camera belonging to the Norwegian Public Roads Administration captured the last seconds of the flight until the helicopter hit the high voltage line.
Personnel from the NSIA arrived at the accident site the same night and started the investigation. The helicopter wreck has been transported to the NSIA's premises in Lillestrøm for further investigations.
An overall technical inspection of the helicopter has been carried out. Information is still being collected.
